Project Management of a New Data Science Education Program in Saudi Arabia
The Challenge
A Training Provider approached Faze 3 to deliver both classroom and online immersive bootcamps in data science and artificial intelligence for their client – the Saudi government agency responsible for Data and Artificial Intelligence.
The core topics to cover were:
-
Beginner Python and Math for Data Science
-
Exploratory Data Analysis
-
Regression and Web Scraping
-
Machine Learning Classification
-
Natural Language Processing and Unsupervised Learning
-
Deep Learning Fundamentals
Each of the classroom boot camps were scheduled to be 12-weeks long in duration with the online bootcamps 4-weeks each and were targeted at about 1000 candidates in total. The students would be at beginner level in these subjects.
The aim was to equip the candidates with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in data science in order to build their skills to establish a solid base for successful careers in this field.
Our Solution
We developed a bespoke 12-week classroom bootcamp and also a 4-week online program that was designed to take the beginner-level candidates through a fulltime immersive and intensive learning journey enabling them to build their knowledge week by week.
The course was structured to contain lecture material, individual/group lab exercises and project assignments, typically concluding with a capstone project to be delivered as part of an overall assessment in the final week.
It was critical to identify and bring on board subject matter experts that were experienced data scientists. They must also have had the capability to lead and consistently engage students throughout this immersive program.
Overall, the program lasted 10 months with Faze 3 providing a team of highly qualified instructors and assistants throughout the training period which spanned 7 months, with multiple bootcamps running simultaneously
The Result
Faze 3’s ability to work efficiently and develop content well before time ensured that the learning materials and content were made available for review 3 weeks before the start of the corresponding boot camp. We ensured the training was delivered in an engaging way by diversifying our facilitators and having our experts deliver on their speciality subjects through a series of activities and case studies bringing new energy and high levels of interaction.
Our program delivery also included regular performance feedback to be provided in a summary report format for all participating candidates, as well as for all instructors.
Students achieved an impressive level of technical capability and an extremely high success rate throughout the program with many going into exciting new roles within the data science and artificial intelligence industries.
